Ecological tourism: There are 24 nature conservation zones of national importance in the region, the area of which is more than 1,723,072 hectares. The largest among them are: Katon-Karagay State National Nature Park, Markakol Nature Reserve, Western Altai Nature Reserve.
Ski tourism: The East Kazakhstan region has the longest duration of snow cover in Kazakhstan. The region has 4 ski resorts with more than 20 ski slopes with a total length of 30-40 km, with an altitude difference of up to 1,500 m, and a length of slopes of up to 5 km.
Health and wellness tourism: There are 19 antler treatment centers in East Kazakhstan, most of which are concentrated in the Katon-Karagay district. The region is a leader in this area, the population of marals and deer in the region is more than 8 thousand heads.
Cultural and educational tourism: The territory of Eastern Kazakhstan is the center of the origin of the Turkic civilization. There are more than 300 historical monuments in the region.

Over the past ten years, nine new deposits of gold, rare metals, copper and iron have been explored, and ore reserves have been determined.
The volume of industrial production in January-October 2024 amounted to 2,098,262.6 million tenge in current prices, which is 3.1% more than in January-October 2023. In the mining industry, production volumes increased by 9.1%, in the manufacturing industry - by 1.3%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning, an increase of 9.4% was noted. In water supply; sanitation; collection, processing and disposal of waste, pollution elimination activities, the decrease in production was 9.5%.
In the region, the main share of industry is metallurgy - 62.7%. The main enterprises of the metallurgical industry are Kazzinc LLP, Ulba Metallurgical Plant JSC, Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium and Magnesium Plant JSC.
The volume of gross output of agricultural products (services) in January-October 2024 amounted to 692,889.22 US dollars, or 109.3% of January-October 2023.
The volume of freight turnover in January-October 2024 amounted to 5656.7 million tkm (taking into account the estimate of the volume of freight turnover of individual entrepreneurs engaged in commercial transportation), or 89.4% of January-October 2023.
